
Flooding rains in Carlsbad prompted street closures and a flash flood warning for central Eddy County Wednesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Midland, Texas issued the flash flood warning effective until 5:45 p.m.
The City of Carlsbad also closed multiple street at 3 p.m., according to a social media post due to rising and rushing water.
NWS indicated 1 to 2 inches of rain fell in Carlsbad Wednesday afternoon.

Plaza from Canyon Street to San Jose Boulevard was closed along with San Jose and Juarez. Boyd Drive and Radio Boulevard were closed along with South James Street around Lower Tansil Dam, according to City of Carlsbad Facebook post.
Eddy County Public Works Director Jason Burns said Dark Canyon Road was closed along with Black River Village and John D. Forehand Road as of 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.
NWS forecasted a 90 percent chance of rain Wednesday afternoon for Carlsbad with reduced chances Wednesday night at only 60 percent..
Rain chances in Carlsbad Thursday were forecasted at 40 percent by NWS.
