Carlsbad police are actively searching for Byron Williams who they suspect shot a man in a non-fatal shooting Nov. 2 on the 900 block of Hidalgo Road.
Williams, 39, allegedly fled the scene as officers arrived. Police said the alleged victim sustained gunshot wounds to both legs and was struck in the head with a blunt object.

The victim survived the attack and was transported to Carlsbad Medical Center, said Carlsbad Police Detective Lt. Adrian Rivera
Police did not release the victim’s name.
Williams was arrested on Dec. 29, 2020 for use or possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, according to Eddy County Detention Center (ECDC) records.
At the time of his arrest, Williams was described as an white male, 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighing 178 pounds with a medium build, read the ECDC arrest description.
“I believe he is possibly in the Carlsbad area,” Rivera said.
CrimeStoppers of Eddy County said a $4,000 reward was offered for information leading to Williams’ arrest.
